How we use cookies
Effective date: May 22, 2026
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or phone when you visit. Cookies let a site remember things between pages and between visits, such as whether you have already submitted a form or how you arrived at the site.
Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the companies whose tools we use, such as Google and Meta. Those are called third-party cookies.
This page explains which cookies forethekidskc.org uses and how to turn them off. For the bigger picture on how we handle your information, read our Privacy Policy.
Why we use them
Fore the Kids is a small foundation. Every dollar we spend on outreach comes out of money that could go to youth mental health programs, so we pay attention to what actually works. Cookies tell us which pages people read, which events fill up, and which posts bring in donations. That is the whole reason we use them.
The cookies on this site
Strictly necessary
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off through this site because pages and forms will not function without them.
- Webflow. Our website host sets cookies required to deliver pages, process form submissions, and protect against spam and abuse.
- GiveCloud. Our donation platform sets session cookies when you open a donation form so your gift can be processed securely.
- OneCause. Our event ticketing and auction platform sets session cookies when you register for an event, buy raffle tickets, or place a bid.
Analytics
These help us understand how the site is used. The information is aggregated, meaning we see patterns across visitors rather than tracking you by name.
- _ga and _ga_[container ID] — set by Google Analytics to tell one visitor from another and to measure sessions. These last about two years.
- _gid — set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors. This lasts about 24 hours.
Advertising and measurement
These let us see whether our social posts and ads lead to donations, ticket sales, and volunteer inquiries, and let us show relevant messages to people who have already visited.
- _gcl_au — set through Google tags to link ad clicks to actions taken on this site. This lasts about 90 days.
- _fbp — set by the Meta Pixel to record actions you take here and connect them to Facebook and Instagram. This lasts about 90 days.
Google and Meta may combine what they collect here with information they already hold about you from other websites and from your account with them. How they use that data is governed by their policies, not ours.
How to control cookies
In your browser
Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete cookies already stored, or get a warning before one is set. The setting is usually under Privacy or Security:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
Blocking all cookies will break parts of this site. Donation forms and event registration in particular need session cookies to work.
Opting out of specific tools
- Google Analytics: install the opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout to opt out across every site that uses it.
- Google ad personalization: manage it at myadcenter.google.com.
- Meta: adjust your ad preferences at facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
Browser privacy signals
Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no agreed industry standard for Do Not Track, and this site does not currently respond to it. Where required by law, we honor Global Privacy Control as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information under any circumstances.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not rent or trade donor lists. Cookies on this site are used to run the site and to measure whether our outreach is working. Nothing more.
Cookies on other sites
When you click through to donate, buy tickets, bid in an auction, or visit a partner like Children's Mercy, you land on a site we do not control. Those sites set their own cookies under their own policies. This page only covers forethekidskc.org.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a tool, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top.
